More Than One-Off Sessions

Some children need more than a single session to settle in. The Foundation Programme gives them six weeks to build a relationship with the horses, learn new ways to manage big feelings, and start carrying those skills home.

Each session builds on the last. By week six, you'll see a different child. Not because we've fixed anything, but because they've discovered something about themselves they didn't know was there.

How Our Foundation Programme Works

Two girls, one wearing an Equimotional Coach vest, placing letter stickers and a winking smiley face sticker on a black horse's side.

Your Child's Six-Week Journey

One session per week for six weeks. Same day, same time, same horse where possible. That consistency matters. Children who struggle with change need to know what's coming. By week three, they're walking in like they own the place.

A Full Programme, Not Just Repeat Sessions

This isn't six random sessions. Each week has a purpose. We start with trust and comfort, move into activities that build confidence and emotional regulation, and finish with skills your child can use at home and school. You'll see the progression.

The Six-Week Journey

We don't repeat the same thing six times and hope the child will improve. There's a shape to this programme. Week one looks very different to week six, and that's the point.

James was here

Week 1:

Getting Comfortable

Meeting the horses, learning the yard, finding their feet. No expectations. Just settling in and seeing what feels right.

Week 2:

Building Trust

Your child starts working with their horse. Grooming, leading, spending quiet time together. The relationship begins here.

Week 3:

First Challenges

Small tasks that stretch them a little. Leading through an obstacle. Making a decision. Seeing that they can do hard things.

Week 4:

Managing Big Feelings

This is where the real work happens. Learning to stay calm when things go wrong. Noticing emotions before they take over. The horse gives honest feedback.

Week 5:

Growing Confidence

Bigger challenges, more independence. Your child starts to trust themselves. Parents often tell me this is when they see the change at home.

Week 6:

Bringing It Together

We reflect on how far they've come. What's changed, what they've learned, what they want to keep working on. This session is about celebrating progress and planning what comes next.

Why Choose the Foundation Programme

Time to Build Trust

One session is a snapshot. Six sessions is a relationship. Children who struggle to connect need time, and this programme gives them that.

Real Progress, Not Quick Fixes

Change doesn't happen overnight. Six weeks is enough to see genuine shifts in how your child handles emotions, communicates, and feels about themselves.

Goes at Your Child's Pace

Some children connect immediately, others need several visits to feel comfortable. We never rush. If your child needs to spend the entire session just watching the horses from a distance, that's perfectly fine.

A Clear Path From Start to Finish

This isn't a vague "come back when you can" arrangement. You know exactly what's happening each week and why. There's a shape to the six weeks that gives your child something to work towards.

You'll See the Change

I'll check in with you after each session. We'll talk about what happened, what I noticed, and what's shifting. By week six, you won't need me to tell you it's working. You'll have seen it yourself.
