Partner With
SJ Equine Assisted Coaching

A trusted referral pathway for professionals supporting children with additional needs. We work alongside psychologists, therapists, schools, and disability services to provide equine-assisted coaching in a safe, personalised setting

Why Professionals Choose to Partner With Us

You already know that traditional settings don't work for every child. Some children shut down in clinic rooms. Others won't engage with talk-based approaches. Equine-assisted coaching gives them a different way in.

A Referral Pathway You Can Trust

When you refer a family to SJ Equine Coaching, you're not sending them into the unknown. Every individual works one-on-one with Majella in a calm, structured environment. Sessions are tailored to each individual's needs, and you'll receive updates on progress so you can integrate the work into your own care plan. Majella is fully insured, and has been working with children and adults with additional needs for over 20 years.

What Families Actually Experience

Parents consistently tell us that their children are calmer, more confident, and better able to manage emotions after just a few sessions. Children who struggle with anxiety, sensory processing, autism, ADHD, and behavioural challenges often respond to the horses in ways they simply can't in a clinical setting. This isn't a replacement for your work, it's a powerful complement to it.

How It Works

You identify clients who could benefit from equine-assisted coaching. We handle the rest, from initial consultation with the family through to ongoing sessions. You'll receive regular progress updates so you can track how the work is supporting your wider therapeutic goals.

What We See Most

The children referred to us by professionals typically present with anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, or social communication challenges. Many have found traditional therapeutic settings overwhelming or unproductive.

The Referral Process

Simply get in touch to discuss the child's needs. We'll arrange a Discovery Session, so the family can experience the setting before committing. No pressure, no hard sell, just an honest conversation about whether it's a good fit.

Beyond the Family

For Schools & Educational Settings

We work with schools to support individual pupils who need more than the classroom can offer. Children who are struggling with behaviour, emotional regulation, or engagement often respond differently when they're working alongside horses in an outdoor setting, away from the pressures of the school environment.

Teachers consistently tell us that after a block of sessions, children are more settled, better at managing frustration, and more willing to participate when they're back in class. Sessions take place at our stable in Kilmore, Co. Clare, and can be scheduled around the school day to minimise disruption.

For Disability Services & Community Organisations

We partner with disability services, family support organisations, and community groups to provide equine-assisted coaching as part of a individuals wider support plan. We've supported individuals referred through a range of services, including those awaiting assessment, post-diagnosis, or simply needing additional support that isn't available through existing pathways.

Sessions are fully adaptable to each child's or Adult's abilities and needs, and we're happy to discuss flexible arrangements, provide documentation for funding applications, and work within the constraints of your service.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Every session is shaped around your child. They lead, I guide. We work towards real, noticeable progress, session by session.

Our Approach

Child wearing a helmet and blue boots kneeling on sand, playing with colorful rings near small flags and traffic cones.

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)

Structured activities with the horses designed around specific goals like communication, teamwork, problem solving, and social skills. Each session is planned to build skills your child can use in school, friendships, and everyday life.

Equine Assisted Activities (EAA)

Your child gets up on the horse. Therapeutic riding builds strength, balance, and sensory regulation, while hands-on horse care like grooming and feeding develops responsibility, routine, and focus.

(02)

Equimotional Wellbeing Coaching

Your child builds emotional awareness, self-regulation, and confidence through gentle interaction with the horses. The horses respond to how your child is feeling, creating natural feedback that helps them understand and manage their emotions.
